Working professionals in search of a feature-rich USB recording solution with a wealth of connections need look no further than the Studio 1824 audio interface. Loaded with analog and digital I/O and an 18x8 DSP monitor mixer, the Studio 1824 records up to 24-bit, 192 kHz audio. Flexible routing, near-zero-latency monitor mixing, and control-room integration are available from within included Studio One® Artist for Mac® and Windows® and UC Surface for Mac, Windows, iPad®, and Android™ tablet. Equipped with our famous XMAX Class A preamps and high-end converters, it delivers superior audio and the features you need to create your next hit and keep clients coming back for more.
High-grade digital converters, ultra-low-jitter clocking, and our famous XMAX preamps add up to a superior recording and listening experience. The Studio 1824 audio interface operates at up to 192 kHz for ultra-high-definition mixing and recording. High-quality converters on every input and output provide 115 dB of dynamic range to capture complex musical harmonics smoothly and naturally with no audible distortion. XMAX Class A microphone preamps deliver incredibly high headroom, deep lows, smooth highs, and a rich overall sound so you’ll hear every breath, transient, and detail in your recordings. Your music never sounded better!
At PreSonus, we know that the microphone preamplifier is a key component in the sonic quality of a recording. The Studio 1824 audio interface includes eight custom-design, high-voltage, Class A XMAX preamps with discrete components for accuracy and transparency.
XMAX preamplifiers are built with three key elements:
- Class A. Class A circuits have no crossover distortion and deliver purer, clearer, and more musical results than the Class AB designs that are found in many preamps.
- High Voltage. The XMAX preamplifier runs on power rails of 30V. Most off-the-shelf, op-amp-based designs run on power rails of 10V to 18V. Higher-voltage power rails deliver more headroom, deeper lows, smoother highs, and a richer overall sound.
- Discrete components—not op-amps. We only use genuine transistors, resistors, and capacitors. Op-amps add noise, coloration, and harshness to a signal. Our discrete design delivers ultra-low noise and transparency.
The net result of the XMAX preamp design is high headroom, low noise, wide dynamic range, extended frequency response, and—most important—musicality and transparency.
The central hub of your studio.
The Studio 1824 audio interface features two front-panel combo mic and switchable line/instrument inputs and six rear-panel mic/line inputs, all with +48V phantom power for condenser mics. Its eight channels of ADAT Optical I/O (four channels at 96 kHz) enable you to expand the unit with a multichannel preamp/ADC, such as our premium-quality DigiMax DP88. In addition to L/R main outputs with front-panel Mute, Mono, and level controls, you get eight balanced line outputs for monitor mixing plus stereo S/PDIF digital I/O and two stereo headphone outputs. All line-level outputs are DC coupled, enabling them to send control voltages. The onboard DSP lets you create four stereo near-zero latency monitor mixes. A BNC word clock output enables synchronization with other digital devices. Studio 1824’s MIDI I/O enables connection to a keyboard, sound module, or control surface, making it your studio's central hub.
World-class recording software included.
The Studio 1824 audio interface works with virtually all Mac and Windows audio-recording software but it really shines when used with the included PreSonus Studio One® Artist DAW. Built by creative people for creative music production, Studio One is easy to learn and enables you to compose, record, and produce your masterpiece without getting distracted by the tools. The mix controls for the Studio 1824’s onboard monitor mixer are seamlessly integrated into Studio One so you can easily create near-zero-latency monitor mixes from within your recording environment. You also can remote-control monitor mixes using free PreSonus UC Surface touch-control software for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Android tablet.
All PreSonus audio interfaces come with PreSonus’ powerful, yet easy-to-use Studio One Artist recording and production software for Mac and Windows. Studio One enables you to compose, record, and produce your masterpiece without getting distracted by the tools, thanks to a straightforward design, a powerful file browser with extensive use of drag-and-drop, in-depth editing, and an Arranger Track and Scratch Pads that let you experiment without losing previous work. It’s inherently Internet-savvy; comes with a wealth of effects plug-ins, virtual instruments, and loops; and can be expanded with Add-ons.
Moreover, Studio One integrates tightly with PreSonus interfaces, configuring automatically—no need to map inputs and outputs. And Studio One’s sound quality is, quite simply, unparalleled. These are just a few of the reasons that Studio One is the new standard for DAWs.
Best of all, nearly every Studio One feature, including Z-mix for Studio 1824, can be remote controlled from optional Studio One Remote for iPad.

I seriously have no idea how PreSonus is developing hardware at this level, bundling it with a ton of valuable freebies, even throwing in an entry-level edition of a heavenly DAW, and then selling the whole caboodle for pennies on the dollar.Dana Gumbiner, Tape Op
