Ultra-wide, detailed stereo soundstage.
The Eris® E66 studio monitor delivers an expanded, highly accurate frequency response and the widest stereo field available in its class. Its nested Midwoofer-Tweeter-Midwoofer (MTM, also known as “D’Appolito”) configuration offers improved off-axis response and spatial resolution. The result is a more consistent listening experience, smoother frequency response, and an ultra-wide, detailed stereo soundstage.
Sound waves radiating from the two components in a conventional speaker design can interfere with one another, creating peaks at some frequencies and dips at others, and these will vary depending on where the listener is relative to the speaker. In an MTM/D’Appolito configuration, component interference and the sonic inconsistencies that go with it are minimized. This affords listeners an ultra-wide sweet spot and a more consistent listening experience on- and off-axis.
High dynamic output and detailed imaging.
Conventional two-way studio monitor designs can cause significant early reflections from their surrounding environment. The Eris E66 speaker overcomes this by positioning a 1.25-inch, silk dome high-frequency driver between two 6.5-inch midrange drivers that cover the same frequency range. The drivers are placed so that their acoustic centers are less than one wavelength apart for any of the frequencies they reproduce.
The combined signal of the two relatively small drivers propagates forward like a single waveform, behaving like a single, larger driver. This mutual coupling provides a highly dynamic output in a compact footprint.
At the same time, the two smaller woofers work in parallel to partially contain the dispersion of the tweeter, minimizing phase displacement. The result is incredibly detailed stereo imaging.
Transparent and cohesive sound.
The Eris E66 studio monitor utilizes a pair of 6.5-inch, woven composite, low-frequency drivers. This provides a more constant dispersion pattern throughout the frequency range, resulting in less time-smeared audio and cleaner overall sound. The weave and nature of the dual woofers also helps break up reflected energy, so fewer delayed reflections reach the listener’s ear. In conjunction with the MTM/D’Appolito configuration, this helps create a transparent, cohesive sound.
Horizontal or vertical—it’s up to you.
Many MTM speaker configurations must be arrayed vertically, rather than horizontally, because vertical placement provides a clear, interference-free midrange and treble reproduction to either side, expanding the sweet spot. By bringing the midrange drivers closer together and raising the high-frequency driver, Eris E66 studio monitors are able to perform optimally in both orientations, letting you position your speaker the way that works best for you.
You’re in control.
Today’s music producers deal with a wide variety of musical genres and often work in more than one location. That’s why Eris-series studio monitors offer extensive acoustic tuning controls. The three-position Acoustic Space switch helps to compensate for the boundary bass boost that can occur when a monitor is placed in a corner or near a wall. High and Mid controls help to further mitigate room anomalies. A Low Cutoff filter makes it easy to integrate a Temblor® subwoofer into your monitor setup.
Like all PreSonus® studio monitors, the Eris E66 offers consistent, accurate listening and extensive user controls. The ultra-wide stereo image afforded by its MTM/D’Appolito design makes it an ideal solution for anyone who requires best-in-class spatial resolution. Hear it at your favorite PreSonus dealer.
Did you know? PreSonus studio monitors and media reference monitors include a special edition of Studio Magic, a suite of over $1000 USD worth of music software including Studio One Prime and more plug-ins, loops, virtual instruments, effects, and tutorials than you may ever need. The Magic edition of Studio One Prime is compatible with all of the included plug-ins, of course, and because they're included in VST, AU, and AAX formats, you can also use them in any DAW you’d like.
It doesn't matter if you’re working on your first podcast episode or your tenth Grammy—you'll find yourself conjuring from the book of Studio Magic sooner than later. Have fun!
Qualifying products include: Eris-series, R-series, Sceptre-series, and Temblor-series speakers and subwoofers. Ableton Live Lite is not included in Studio Magic when acquired through a speaker registration. Content and terms of the Studio Magic Software Suite are subject to change.
The E66 is a winner based on its long-term listenability, impressively loud output for such a small box, wide and inclusionary sweet spot, and overall pleasantness in use that is refreshing at this price point.Rob Tavaglione, ProSoundWeb
I am still stunned at the model's quality versus cost ratio, and I would have to rate them twice as nice for the price.Scott McChane, Tape Op
One of the Eris E66’s attractions is that it works equally well whether placed horizontally or vertically.Steve La Cerra, EM
Pensaba que estaba ante unos altavo- ces bastante más caros debido a la calidad y aspecto que presentan. (I thought I was looking at a lot more expensive speakers due to the quality and appearance they present.)Josh Tampico, Musico Pro
