Scenario 1: You’re in a home studio, recording with your AudioBox 1818VSL interface. The guitarist is in the hall, where the natural reverb is great for his amp. The drummer is in a back room. And you need to be there with them at times, yet stay in control of your system.

Scenario 2: You want to mix an event where there’s no room for a mixing station, and you need to hear the front-of-house and monitor mixes perfectly. The band doesn’t need a huge mixer, but you do want dynamics processing, EQ, and effects on the monitors.

What if you could do the whole job with the AudioBox 1818VSL and control the system from anywhere in the house? Ah, now we have your full attention!

With free AB1818VSL Remote, you can control your recording rig wirelessly, from an iPad®. Go ahead and work with the drummer in the back room; with AB1818VSL Remote, you can control all features of AudioBox VSL software (except Solo and Channel Link) from anywhere your Wi-Fi network can reach.

In our second scenario, stash an AudioBox 1818VSL and a USB-connected Mac® or Windows® PC backstage or at the side of the stage. Then mix the entire show, controlling the system wirelessly from anywhere in the house using the iPad!

Presto zoomo! Instant wireless mixing surface!

Armed with your trusty iPad, you can walk around the studio or live venue and adjust levels and processing on an AudioBox 1818VSL in real time, just as you can with StudioLive Remote and a StudioLive mixer.

The AudioBox 1818VSL USB 2.0 audio/MIDI interface’s 26 x 18 mixing and processing features are controlled by AudioBox VSL software for Mac® and Windows®. The software provides a computer-based ultra-low-latency mixer with two stereo effects buses for reverb and delay plus the Fat Channel processing from the StudioLive 16.0.2, which are available on every input, DAW return, and bus.

This makes it practical to use the AudioBox 1818VSL interface and USB-connected computer as a small digital mixing system, complete with effects. (Since our Studio One® Artist DAW for Mac and Windows is bundled with the AudioBox 1818VSL, you get recording, too. And with Studio One's Nimbit® extension, you can immediately start selling your music.)

All that remains is to add a mixing surface—and an iPad is perfect for the job. That’s where AB1818VSL Remote comes in.

The view from the top

AB1818VSL Remote provides multiple views of the key AudioBox VSL mixer and processing controls.

The Overview displays the most-used parameters, such as channel levels, mutes, panning, EQ curves, and more for multiple channels at once. The Aux view shows the levels, panning, and Fat Channel processing for the Aux sends and internal FX buses.

As with AudioBox VSL software for Mac and Windows, the Fat Channel processors are displayed as microviews; tap a microview to zoom in on the Fat Channel processing, then navigate between the processors with the flick of a fingertip.

Did we mention it’s free?

Load settings and scenes, control the reverbs and delays—with AB1818VSL Remote for iPad, the power of AudioBox VSL software and the AudioBox 1818VSL interface is literally at your fingertips! To top it off, the app is a free download from the Apple App Store.
