PreSonus Clinics a Hit in Mexico
May 31, 2001
Presonus teamed up with Grammy Award winning engineer John Karpowich for a series of clinics featuring the Presonus line of products. The clinics were co-sponsored by Presonus, Hermes International, and MidiLandia in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. All the seminars were extremely well received with large turnouts in all three venues. The seminars featured John Karpowich. Mr. Karpowich has been recognized for his engineering work including being awarded a Grammy for 'Supernatura', Carlos Santana's Album of the Year. John's clinics demonstrated the use of Presonus products in conjunction with ProTools and in "live" sound applications. He also utilized a Presonus ACP88 with a JBL system and ProTools to offer the first large-scale public demonstration of a 5.1 audio mix in Mexico City.
Presonus was assisted in the production of these clinics by Hermes International; the exclusive distributor for Presonus in Mexico and by JBL and DigiDesign who assisted by providing equipment. The tour was arranged by MidiLandia, a retail franchise specializing in professional analog and digital recording equipment with outlets throughout Mexico.
Aiding in the success of the Presonus seminars was the fact that not only did Mr. Karpowich lend his expert audio knowledge and engineering credibility to the clinics but he was also able to conduct them entirely in Spanish. John Karpowich uses Presonus products in his own studio in Los Angeles and on his location audio assignments. He is especially fond of the M80 eight-channel microphone preamplifier by Presonus for its excellent audio characteristics and flexible operation. He is also a big fan of the DigiMAX and is extremely pleased with how it interfaces with the DigiDesign 001/ProTools combo. John Karpowich quipped, "I don't know how the making of quality recordings could get any simpler than this!"
John Karpowich is currently working in Emeryville, CA on a soon to be released major motion picture. He is using a Presonus M80, and ACP88 and his trusty DigiMAX doing location audio for the film and for the video game that will accompany the release of the motion picture.
