Khaliq at home.

Khaliq at home.

PreSonus VP of Sales and PreSonus lifer Rick Naqvi recently had the opportunity to sit down with überproducer Khaliq Glover. Khaliq has licence to drop names like Prince, Justin Timberlake,  Herbie Hancock, John Mayer, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Santana, Sting, Brian Eno, Annie Lennox, Smokey Robinson, Jeffrey Osborne, B2K, Narada Michael Walden, Kenny Lattimore, and Faith Evans. He was also one of the many engineers to participate on 1985′s ”We Are The World” project.  The man’s the real-deal, and we’re flattered that he converted to Studio One, thanks to a little help from Teddy Riley.

Khaliq also runs a site called MixingAndRecording.Com, where he hosts telesummits from time to time, featuring select industry pros from Khaliq’s l̶i̶t̶t̶l̶e̶ big black book of industry pros. Give it a listen; Khaliq and Rick kick around the history of PreSonus and offer some insights into our products.

The coolness just doesn’t STOP with SonicSense Pro Audio! Following up their killer bass DI demo of the ADL 700, now it gets put to the REAL test: vocals!

And when I say a REAL test for vocals, I mean it’s tested with none other than Queen’s “Somebody to Love,” which is like the hardest song to sing ever, as p̶e̶r̶f̶o̶r̶m̶e̶d̶ knocked out of the park by American Idol finalist Mathenee Treco.

olaOla Englund continues to dominate the online metal realm with his +3 Vorpal YouTube Channel of Unholy Smiting. He’s got a killer remix competition that just launched, and Studio One Professional 2.5 and the AudioBox 1818VSL are both up for the winners! Ola really squeezed the last drop out of his book of industry contracts on this one, as prizes are also available from Randall Amplifiers, Seymour Duncan, Rocktron, Dean Markley, Warwick, Zildjian, DDrum,  Toontrack, and Systematic Audio.

It goes like this: enter your name and email at fearedband.com/competition. You’ll get an e-mail with a link to download the original stems of Feared’s “Possessed.” Create a remix (We recommend using Studio One, duh) and submit it to your SoundCloud or YouTube with the #fearedmixingcomp hashtag, and you’re entered!

Something I’m really excited about is that this is a “no limits” remix contest, so I’m stoked to hear the happy hardcore and dubstep remixes of Possessed, a 5 quintillion ton slab o’ pure death metal rage.

As a PreSonus employee, I’m not qualified to win this, but I’m totally entering anyway, because this is just too fun.
