With over twenty years of experience, Dennis Tousana’s work as a studio engineer ranges from orchestral, jazz and rock to spoken word. He has engineered and mixed over 60 projects for his company, Absolute Audio Inc. What's more, Dennis has been involved in two projects which garnered Grammy nominations. Joining the ranks of high end preamps, microphones and outboard gear, Dennis found PreSonus’ ADL 600 to be a perfect addition to his studio.
“The ADL 600 is the first microphone preamp in some time that I was genuinely excited about after using it. The unit is built like a tank, very solid with beefy toggle switches and knobs along with a complete metering set up that includes LED peak meters in conjunction with its analogue VU,” says Dennis.
Dennis continues, “The sound is full, but certainly not tubby with a very smooth top end. It also contains many features that aren't even available on units costing more. Two of those features are the high pass filter and the variable impedance control allowing you to change the character of the microphone without inserting anything additional into the signal path. The ADL 600 does not fail to impress.”
Dennis recently used the ADL 600 with an AT4060 for a female jazz vocalist, a Latin jazz session for a violin which he recorded in stereo, and drum overheads with a pair of Blue Kiwis.
